We use the very latest techniques and technology to provide our San Diego patients with rhinoplasty treatments to help achieve facial harmony and balance
There are many reasons for the popularity of rhinoplasty as a cosmetic treatment and Dr. Steve Laverson is passionate about maintaining superior levels of surgical care. A rhinoplasty is concerned with improving the shape, size, proportion, and features of one’s nose to attain the appearance that best represents your ideal appearance.
The form and function of the nose are indelibly linked, and should your breathing feel staggered or misaligned then straightening your nose through rhinoplasty will usually improve your breathing. If you are considering a reconstructive rhinoplasty in order to correct defects or trauma, it can help to increase the flow of air through your nasal airways as well as correct the appearance.
What Can Rhinoplasty Do for You?
Every patient has a unique situation, and so it is only natural that you will have a personal motivation for undergoing rhinoplasty surgery. However, there are some common reasons for rhinoplasty treatments. Many people feel that their nose is simply too big for their faces and would like more proportion in relation to other features. Perhaps your nose is too long or too wide when seen from the front, or the tip is too perky or plunges too far. Sometimes the tip can also seem disproportionately large or poorly defined or even indistinct. Rhinoplasty is also able to address the nostril area and can be used to tighten flared nostrils.
If you have any esthetic irregularities that have been caused by trauma or if your nose is crooked, rhinoplasty can help to correct this. Rhinoplasty surgery has proved to be incredibly effective at improving these features and once you have had a consultation with Dr. Laverson, and discussed your expectations, there is every chance that you will be delighted with the outcome of the surgery.
What Does Rhinoplasty Treatment Entail?
The exact details of rhinoplasty are dependent on the patient and the nature of the surgery. We like to say that no two rhinoplasties are exactly alike because no two noses are exactly alike. This also applies to the face and skin which will also affect the way in which your rhinoplasty is performed. Differences aside, Dr. Laverson will always go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that you get the best possible result for your unique situation.
Meticulous planning and a keen eye for detail allow Dr. Laverson to plan the procedure and execute it accordingly. Simply speaking, the nose is similar to a tent in that its bones are like the poles that support the tent from the inside, giving the tent its structure. Dr. Laverson alters the nose’s shape by making modifications to the underlying cartilage and bone and then redrawing the skin to fit the new dimensions. This bony and cartilaginous structure is reduced by filing and chiseling. Conversely, should an area be in need of more structure, cartilage can be grafted from the inside of your nose, ear, or rib or by adding implants. As these various elements are moved around they will be sutured and secured in order to change the shape of your nose as the skin adheres to its new structure.
There are no age requirements for rhinoplasty treatment although, we encourage anyone under the age of 16 to fully consider the effects of undergoing surgery as the nose has not fully formed by this age. To make an appointment with Dr. Laverson or to find out more about our rhinoplasty treatments.
This provides hope to those who do not have confidence in their own beauty. Now I understand that it is better to undergo surgery at a young age. Thanks for this informative article. 🙂
