« Back to Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
Patient Details
Before and months after abdominoplasty upon mother of one. She presented with abdominal wall irregularities and scarring from liposuction (by another practitioner) after pregnancy. In general, Dr. Laverson advises against liposuction for postpartum women seeking improvement in abdominal contour. Liposuction addresses only localized excess fat. Pregnancy stretches both abdominal wall and skin, problems which are not improved, and may in fact become worse, as a result of liposuction. Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) removes fat, tightens the abdominal wall, and reduces skin excess in a single procedure, and is therefore preferred for improvement of the postpartum abdomen.
