What is OPUS Plasma?

OPUS Plasma is an FDA approved system that generates controlled plasma and radiofrequency (RF) energy (radio waves) for rejuvenating and tightening the skin surface anywhere on the face or body.

Does the Opus Plasma® skin resurfacing treatment hurt?

Unlike traditional laser skin resurfacing treatment, which requires anesthesia, the Opus Plasma® procedure is well-tolerated by most patients. Topical anesthesia is typically sufficient for minimizing any associated discomfort.

How long does the Opus Plasma® treatment take?

The Opus Plasma® treatment takes 15 to 30 minutes, though it may take slightly longer for more complex conditions or larger treatment areas.

How many Opus Plasma® treatments will I need?

Opus Plasma(R) treatments are highly customizable and appropriate for treating a wide range of skin issues. This means not everyone’s treatment will be exactly the same. During your consultation, after Dr. Laverson has a chance to evaluate your treatment area and discuss your skincare goals, he’ll be able to give you a clearer idea of the treatment plan for your specific situation.

What can I expect after the Opus Plasma® skin resurfacing treatment?

After your Opus Plasma(R) treatment, you may experience redness and swelling for a couple of days, but you should be able to resume your regular routine right away. Dr. Laverson will provide you with a specific set of instructions to follow so you get the most out of your skin resurfacing treatment. Opus Plasma(R) results can last up to three years!

If you want to reduce excess fat and/or tighten loose skin of your lower face, neck, or beneath your chin, Opus plasma treatment may be for you! Now, Dr. Laverson can treat these problems with a minimally-invasive (non-surgical) procedure.

OPUS delivers skin tightening heat precisely to targeted areas for improved contour and tightened skin in the office, while you are awake. Treatment areas are anesthetized and radiofrequency (RF) plasma is delivered by a probe passed over the skin to initiate a healing response that reorganizes and tightens collagen matrices. Liposuction can be added at the same time if necessary or desired.

Opus plasma treatments are comfortable for most, recovery is brief, and return to normal activities usually a matter of days. At this time, Opus plasma is not a replacement for a facelift, neck lift, or tummy tuck. Because of its safety, relatively low cost, quick recovery, and minimal to no scarring, Opus plasma is likely to become an adjunct to surgery and/or preferred for those wishing to avoid surgery.

Never before possible, new technology allows safe and effective skin tightening and fat dissolution in the office! Delivery of specific heat levels to connective tissue beneath your skin causes collagen to reorganize and shrink. Similar levels of heat cause fat cells to dissolve, and your body absorbs these injured cells. The result is tighter, toned skin and removal of excess fat in treated areas. The procedure is performed in the office under local antesthesia with minimal discomfort, and recovery is quicker than after surgical procedures. Results are seen in several weeks to months, and patients enjoy the immediate improvement.

Dr. Laverson applies Thermigen technology (“ThermiTight”) to precisely control heat generation in the treatment area. This produces the most consistent, predictable, and safe results. Indications for ThermiTight are unwanted localized fat and/or loose skin of arms, abdomen, love handles, thighs, or knees. Usually, only one or two areas are treated per office session.

Desired heat levels are produced by radiofrequency (RF) energy. The sterile RF probe melts fat for body contouring and volume reduction anywhere on the body. Fat cells are injured, and through a process called “apoptosis,” your body naturally eliminates targeted fat tissue. When specific levels of RF energy is applied just beneath your skin, collagen matrices are disrupted, and begin a process of re-organization during which they contract and tighten. ThermiTight can be used alone or in combination with liposuction in the office. Dr. Laverson prefers to add liposuction if there is enough excess fat that instant removal is desired.

This is a new type of RF (radiofrequency) facial with dramatic results.

Just show Dr. Laverson the area of loose or sagging skin on the face or body, and we’ll schedule your tightening procedure. After evaluating the loose skin involved, radiofrequency (RF) energy is delivered by a thermistor controlled handpiece. ThermiSmooth delivers precise heating to the skin’s surface. ThermiSmooth treatments are gentle and patients often say it feels like receiving a warm massage. Normal body temperature is about 37°C, and your loose skin will be warmed to about 45° C. Warmth applied to deep dermal connective tissue shrinks and tightens in the RF therapy session. Lines and creases that have developed over the course of years smooth in response. To avoid excessive heating, skin surface temperature is monitored by an infrared heat-sensing camera continuously, and cool compresses are applied as needed.

Thermi-RF (ThermiSmooth) non-invasive treatment may be used for clearly visible results on any adult. Although outcomes from Thermi-RF are not equivalent to surgery, it is much easier on you, and depending on your situation, the benefit you get from Thermi-RF may be enough. Patients with mild amounts of loose or sagging skin are best suited for this office procedure. ThermiSmooth works well on the forehead, eyelids, under the eyes, around the mouth, and on the neck.
