Your decision for a cosmetic procedure is based on information available to you. It is Dr. Laverson’s responsibility to provide sufficient information about the procedure you are considering. In the State of California, you have health care rights, and one of these is knowledge of all risks, benefits, and alternatives to a procedure you are considering before you consent to that treatment. Based on this data, you have a right to refuse treatment. Payment for your procedure in advance is evidence of your consent, and your signature on an informed consent document is evidence of your knowledge. Read and understand all content in the informed consent document before signing. Links to our informed consent documents are HERE. We will ask you to read and sign the document(s) electronically in the office when you pay for your procedure, usually at the pre-surgical appointment.
Dr. Laverson wants your consent to be well informed. You should know the risks involved, and about complications that may occur. Dr. Laverson and the Feel Beautiful staff want your questions answered before your procedure. The only surprises we like are good ones! Schedule an additional pre-surgical consultation by calling 858-295-4001 for anything you are not sure about.
Elements of your decision are the expected benefit to you (greater confidence in your appearance, improved self awareness, better personal success) which motivates you toward a procedure, and risks of the procedure, which may dissuade you. If the expected benefit of an operation or treatment does not justify the risk involved, you should not proceed. Cosmetic surgery decisions are complex, because you cannot know the exact outcome beforehand. In this “leap of faith,” you depend on your surgeon for an honest prediction. Your surgeon anticipates an expected outcome, but cannot predict the future. As such, no particular result can be guaranteed in advance. Dr. Laverson explains to you the most likely complications, avoids them as much as possible, assesses your particular risk of complications, and incorporates preventive measures. You help us prevent complications by fully informing Dr. Laverson of your past medical history, and by following all instructions before and after surgery. Dr. Laverson wants for you, and for every patient, what you likely want for yourself from a procedure: A beautiful result, and problem free experience. When problems occur, which as consequences of nature they inevitably do, you can count on Dr. Laverson to soldier forth on your behalf in every way to resolve the problem expeditiously, and at the least possible expense to you.
