Bratz Eyes Procedure

The Bratz Blepharoplasty (Eyelids): Pros and Cons

Bratz Blepharoplasty

Plastic surgeon San Diego eyelid procedures (blepharoplasties = “blef-are-O-plastees”) remove sagging skin, create a double upper lid in ethnic Asians, remove or smooth tired looking bulges of the lower eyelids, open sleepy upper eyelids (ptosis), or some combination of these indications.

A new trend is to change the tilt of the eyelids, higher on the outside (laterally) than the inside near the nose (medially).  Many simulate this effect with eyeliner and other cosmetics so the outer corner of the eye is higher than the inner corner.  Fashionable BRATZ®  dolls exaggerated this slant, and some want it permanently.

The BRATZ® blepharoplasty is real surgery with risks that should be carefully considered before proceeding.  Like all aesthetic operations, there are pros and cons.  Let’s raise the red flags first.  You will appear different. Changes of the nose by rhinoplasty (“nosejob”) are often  unnoticed, even by family and close friends.  You may look like a better version of yourself, but still yourself. Others peer directly into your eyes when communicating, so the change will be noticed.  Denying surgery will erode your credibility, although tinted glasses and changing your hair and cosmetics may distract and help them forget your former look.

A surgically created upward slant of the outer eyelids may be difficult to undo if you later change your mind and want to go back to the eyes you had before.  Even if you undo the operation and drop the outer corner of the eyelids back down, slight asymmetries, irregularities, and other cosmetic issues may persist.  Functional problems such as incomplete eyelid closure are also possible.  Some plastic surgery is easily reversible, but if you go for this, you’ll be BRATZ® forever.

The pros of BRATZ® blepharoplasty are that if you really like the look of upturned outer corners of your eyes, you can have it !  Dr. Steve Laverson performs the operation under general anesthesia at Feel Beautiful Plastic Surgery for precision and comfort, although some other doctors may prefer local anesthesia.  Eyelids are swollen after the procedure for weeks to even months.  Follow up with your plastic surgeon is important after all aesthetic procedures to identify and manage imperfections.  For more information, call 858-295-4001
