Liposuction is a safe and effective body-sculpting procedure that involves the removal of unwanted pockets of stubborn fat. When performed by a highly skilled and trained cosmetic surgeon, liposuction San Diego results in shapely, proportionate body contours. While liposuction can remove several pounds of excess fat, it isn’t technically a weight loss procedure and should not be used as a substitute for a healthy diet and exercise routine. Of course, some weight will be lost as a result of the procedure, but the main goal of liposuction is to balance and shape the body contours. Read on for more information about weight loss and liposuction.
How liposuction works
Sometimes, no matter how careful you are about the foods you eat or how much effort you put in at the gym, small pockets of fat remain in certain parts of the body that are notoriously difficult to shape and sculpt with diet and exercise alone. Liposuction is the perfect solution for removing fat from those tricky, problem areas, but it is not a solution for treating generalized obesity.
During the liposuction procedure, Dr. Laverson makes small incisions in the skin folds of the treatment area and inserts a cannula (a small hollow wand) connected to a mechanical pump. He then uses the cannula to strategically vacuum out the fat, refining the body contours for enhanced proportions and a more attractive figure.
As mentioned above, liposuction is not meant to be a weight loss solution, but the fat removed does have weight and volume, so the procedure can change the number on the scale. Generally, the best candidate for liposuction will be healthy and close to their ideal weight, so the amount of weight lost will be on the low end, typically between 2 and 8 pounds. Although that’s not a lot of pounds shed, when performed by Dr. Laverson, who is known for his precision and artistry, your liposuction procedure will have maximum impact on your curves. And because the removal of the fat cells is permanent, as long as you maintain a healthy weight, your sculpted new figure will be permanent as well. Keep in mind, however, that significant weight gain can cause new fat cells to develop in the previously treated area.
If you’re serious about wanting to lose weight, Dr. Laverson’s 10x Diet can help you shed pounds, improve your health, and transform your appearance. Once you’ve lost the weight you want to lose, liposuction can trim down those last stubborn areas to complete the transformation. While it is possible to have liposuction before losing weight, the localized fat removal may not have the impact you’re looking for. Losing excess weight and creating healthy lifestyle habits before undergoing liposuction, however, will help you achieve a beautifully sculpted body that you can enjoy for years to come.
