Who and What We Are
The Doctor’s Wife (TDW) Skin Care is dedicated to the design, production, and promotion of high performance skin care products for all that are simple, fun to buy and use, safe, and environmentally friendly. TDW mission, values, and philosophy follows from the character, identity, and experience of founders Dr. Steve and Joanne Laverson.
Dr. Steve Laverson was traditionally trained, and certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Skin products prescribed in the office reflect upon the surgeon’s integrity, and should be consistent with the quality, professionalism, and ethical standards of surgical service. Indications are well defined, commercialism excluded, safety and success expected.
Joanne Azera Laverson, Founder
The Doctor’s Wife Skin Care
Born in Casablanca, raised in pastoral Southern France, and credentialed in French literature at the University in Bordeaux, Joanne Azera has an instinct for classic beauty and an advanced sense of style. She emerged from fashion houses of Paris at a young age to become a successful designer of American couture. After marrying Dr. Laverson, Joanne abandoned the limelight to become a supportive wife. She still helped women feel beautiful, but by caring for their skin one at a time for years from the obscurity of a plastic surgery office back room. Joanne became intimately attuned to details of skin behavior and patient-product interaction in the clinic, which became her creative laboratory.
No available brands offered levels of performance, quality, and simplicity Joanne and Dr. Laverson wanted to prescribe. After a research and development effort, Joanne and Dr. Laverson originated Plastic Surgeon Skin Care®, a small but exciting group of medical grade products with more appealing labeling and packaging than was available at the time. They opened the longest running retail plastic surgery office in the U.S., Feel Beautiful™ on Coast Highway in Carlsbad, CA. From her storefront, Joanne cared for thousands of faces and became known as a valuable local resource for management of Caucasian, Hispanic, Asian, and Black skin. Popular as “The Doctor’s Wife,” Joanne and Dr. Laverson observed industry trends away from simplicity, effectiveness, flexibility, and honesty in skin care. As the largest organ of the human body, needs of the skin are not situational, but fundamental and consistent. TDW evolved from Plastic Surgeon Skin Care®, and represents an evolution of knowledge and experience. These products were generationally improved by continually applying advanced product chemistry to achieve better and better results in the clinic.
