Face Lift/Neck Lift
Face and Neck Lift (Rhytidectomy) / Comprehensive Rejuvenation
Face and neck lift are still the gold standard for long lasting and natural appearing correction of aging features. Dr. Laverson incorporates advanced face and neck lift techniques as part of his comprehensive approach to facial rejuvenation. This procedure follows at least two consultations with Dr. Laverson to decide what you want to get from your procedure, and how this will be accomplished. Dr. Laverson approaches the day of your procedure with detailed plans to create a masterpiece, carefully and naturally restoring aging brows, eyelids, facial skin, cheeks, jowls, lips, neck, and possibly other features. Because parts of the face age together, restoration involves treatment of all aging areas simultaneously to maintain a natural, harmonious appearance. Passage of time abides wrinkling of your skin surface and gravitational settling of stretched and degenerating deeper layers. The facial skeleton also contracts. To create a truly younger visage, deeper layers are artfully elevated to their former youthful position, and attractive contours re-established. Hollows are filled. Results are natural and long lasting. Dr. Laverson abhors and specifically avoids the pulled appearance. Great Plastic Surgery doesn’t look like Plastic Surgery, it looks natural. Recovery is several weeks, but final result develops over many months as swelling slowly resolves.

Patient Experiences:
Before I decided to have my facelift, I read articles and books, watched television shows, and knew that the reason for having the surgery was for myself; To correct things I didn’t like when I looked in the mirror. There really wasn’t a lot – just those parentheses’ around my nose and mouth that seemed to be getting deeper and sagging more. I didn’t want to look thirty again – I just wanted to look good for sixty.
I met with one plastic surgeon who began our consultation by listing the things he could “fix” while he was doing what I wanted. Apparently I was a mess. I thanked him and left. Aside from the fact that I didn’t feel that I should be seen in public, I really wasn’t looking forward to another consultation.
Then we met with Dr. Steve Laverson and I knew immediately things would be different. Joanne and Annette in the front office set the tone – They are warm and welcoming. When the consultation began, Dr. Laverson asked what he could do for me. He wanted to know my expectations. He asked my husband if he felt comfortable with the procedures he was describing. He spent time explaining everything and made sure all our questions were answered. He is meticulous and that concern continues throughout all post-op visits.
Obviously, what I wanted first and foremost was a competent surgeon – this was my face! What I got was so much more. An amazing surgeon who is truly gentle and compassionate. One who knows how to offer a suggestion. One who knew what I wanted and did his absolute best to make it happen and each time I look in the mirror I am truly grateful to him.
BL, LaCosta, CA
My name is Judith Holley and I am a 70 year old woman. On October 19, 2011, Dr. Laverson performed extensive plastic surgery on me. He estimated that the operation would take 5 hours and that is what I paid for. However, being the perfectionist and dedicated doctor that he is; he spent an additional 3-1/2 hours to ensure a successful result. As you can see from the before and after photos, Dr. Laverson is a miracle worker. He transformed a wrinkled and tired-looking old woman into a wrinkle-free and vibrant younger woman. Thanks to Dr. Laverson, I have a new lease on life.If you are looking for a plastic surgery who knows his stuff and cares about his patients, look no further because Dr. Laverson is your man. He will put a smile back on your face and delight in your happiness.
Q & A with Dr. Laverson:
Am I ready for a face-lift?
This decision is based on many factors, but in general, your aging features must bother you enough that you are willing to bear the expense, recovery time, and risk of such a procedure in order to realize the benefits. Generally, for patients in the 45 to 55 age range, the procedure is preventive rather than corrective, and you will look youthful well into your 60′s. If you’re over 55 or so, depending on your ethnicity and aging features, the procedure is more corrective, the results more dramatic, and still long lasting.
How long will my facelift last?
A facelift turns back the clock. You will start aging again from that point forward. The good news is you will always look better than if you did not have the procedure in the first place.
What type of recovery can I expect?
Although you will take analgesics for pain, this will not be severe. The primary burden during recovery is a swollen irregular appearance until soft tissues assume their final dimension. This will take a MINIMUM of three weeks before you feel comfortable being seen in public, and then, likely with shaded glasses, and perhaps hat and scarf. Usually, after four to six weeks, you become much more recognizable, and will return to social and professional activities without excessive preoccupation by your appearance.
What can be done for a “double chin”?
There are several options. If you still have good skin tone, the fat in this area can be removed with gentle liposuction, and this improves the contour of the neckline. When skin tone is poor, it may take a facelift procedure with liposuction to correct the condition. Neckplasty is a third option for patients with good skin elasticity.
How will my “frown lines” and “crow’s feet” be treated?
Dr. Laverson often removes frown muscles and uses a combination of carbon dioxide laser, temporal browlift, and/or BOTOX® Cosmetic for these areas. Because this is an important part of your aging, resolution of crow’s feet to some degree should accompany facelift.
Will I look natural after my surgery?
Dr. Laverson uses techniques that preserve a natural appearance. Our goal is for you to appear younger, not different.
Can laser resurfacing or chemical peels be done at the same time as a facelift?
Yes, but resurfacing can only be done on areas where the skin has not been freed from the underlying tissues (i.e. the area of the mouth). Resurfacing around the mouth is a nice addition to a facelift, because the wrinkles around the mouth are not improved by a facelift.
Am I too young for a facelift?
Everyone ages differently and this is very dependent on your unique features and how you feel about your aging. Many individuals have less aggressive surgery at a younger age to maintain a youthful appearance and prevent further aging.
Do you prefer endoscopic over traditional brow lifts?
No. My preference is for open browlifts because the hairline stays in a youthful position or can be lowered, scars are well hidden in or behind the hairline, and the amount, direction, and area for lifting is better controlled and predicted than with endoscopic technique, in my hands. Also, the results, I believe, are longer lasting.
When would you not do an endoscopic brow lift?
Patients who have a high hairline and long forehead are better served by a hairline brow lift so that the hairline can be lowered while also elevating the brows.
Do you do facelifts, brow lifts, and eyelid lifts all at the same time?
Yes. Doing all three at once creates better harmony between all areas of the face. Since all areas of the face age together, it may be preferable to treat all areas simultaneously.
